From the far outside to the podium

Busy Miss Lissy runner-up in the International Stakes

We don’t usually write about silver—but today we’re making an exception.

Yesterday, our “little” Busy Miss Lissy lined up in the International Stakes at The Red Mile in Kentucky.

The draw wasn’t kind—post 9 of 9—so we’d probably have settled for a minor check going in.

But driver James McDonald had other ideas—and even more faith in Busy than her owners.

She blasted to the lead from the far outside, released to the brilliant Southwind Chaska, and sat there until the stretch, where she took her shot at the Oscarsson family’s two-year-old queen.

It was oh-so close, but not quite. The clock stopped at 1:49.7 for both fillies (Nordic timing 1.09,7).

A truly fantastic silver—and honestly, if you’re going to be second, who wouldn’t smile losing to Susanne Oscarsson?
